Adding 850MHz capability increases the overall coverage capability of the existing Vodafone network and weve opted to roll it out in major metropolitan areas first as thats where the bulk of our calls and data usage occurs.
By implementing 850MHz and shifting the usage between that and our other frequencies (900 MHz and 2100MHz) we can deliver better results for our customers, whether youre on an 850MHz device or not. This is because traffic will be split amongst our networks. Whereas previously those customers with an 850MHz compatible device would have used the existing networks, now the call and data traffic for those customers will move to the new network where its available, resulting in an improved experience for customers.
850MHz is a great complementary technology to our existing network, and as we roll it out alongside our existing networks, our expectation is that our customers as a whole will benefit.
